Gopi created history by winning gold medal in the Asian Marathon Championships

Gopi Thunakal became the first Indian male to win gold medal in the Asian Marathon Championships when he won the title of this prestigious competition here today.

Gopi won gold medal with two hours, 15 minutes and 48 seconds time. André Peterov of Uzbekistan put the silver medal in his bag with two hours, 15 minutes and 51 seconds.

Mongolia's Bibbalave Sevenwaran managed to win a bronze medal in two hours 16 minutes and 14 seconds.

Gopi is the first Indian male to win this title after the separate marathon championship formation.

Prior to this, Asha Agarwal won the women's title when the competition was a part of the Asiatic track and field championships that took place every two years.
